Fruits of my labor

Don't you just love to see productivity?

Anything other than spinning wheels is good these days!

Well, my helper Elf hubby and I have been busy churning out the Puddin Pop Kids this weekend. Yes- he helps! He has become quite the pro at leg turning and stuffing!

Usually, when things aren't so busy, I just make the PPK's one order at a time. However, because this year has been much busier, Hubby has been learning and has done fantastically! I couldn't do it without him, that's for sure.

Anyway, here is round 1.... If you have a PPK in this bunch I will be contacting you tomorrow or Tuesday for pick up or to let you know that your puddin is shipping. If you don't hear from me then hang tight! The rest will be going out in the next couple of weeks.

Family Pictures preview

This weekend we had some family pictures taken. It has been forever since we had a whole group shot! Even last year when Kate was following us, Hubby seemed to be working for every shoot or we were just busy with life and couldn't get us all in a shot together. SOOO, we scheduled it in an effort to get at least 1 picture of the 7 of us, hopefully looking at the camera and happy... not always an easy feat!

I emailed Miss Christina. She's the photographer that took these shots.

It had been a looong time since we had seen her so I thought it would be fun to see my family through her lense this time.
My oh my, how my children have changed!! Especially the babies!! They're not babies anymore!!
In fact, they are older than the boys were when they were born!

Here is a quick preview. From what I've seen so far, I think we did pretty good!

Halloween??

Pumpkin row... the pumpkin faces drawn by the kids and cut by mommy and daddy...

L-R... (and in birth order, just cause) Puddin, Monkey Do, Monkey See, Bud and Daisy.

Did I share this? Things have just been c to the r to the azy around here lately and I don't know which end is up it seems.

Anyway, I think sharing our halloween pictures is one of those things that fell to the wayside the past couple of weeks! So, 2 weeks into the November, here we go!

(BTW- my last show is coming up next week and then, while I'll be plenty busy with custom orders, I will be able to slow down a breath a little, I hope.)

Halloween 2010
Theme: Old McMonkey Do and the barnyard gang... totally decided upon by Monkey Do and his deep admiration of Farmer Jason.
So, thanks to Monkey Do we had a puppy, aka Monkey See, a lamb, aka Puddin, a mouse, aka Bud and a baby chick, aka Daisy. Bud and Daisy's costumes were from our costume collection previously worn by their siblings, but still as cute as ever. Monkey See's costume was courtesy of Gymboree and Puddin's was a home made lamb suit.
Ta- Daaa!

It is so, so hard to get everyone looking in the same direction and happy at the same time!

they're off!

after wards... assessing the loot. I put the babies to bed while hubby and the kiddos got busy with the candy! I think he was as happy about the loot as they were!

ummmm- Reece's peanut butter cups... yummmm!
Hope you all had a happy Halloween too!

a house fit for a fairy...

A couple of weeks ago we had one of our sweet little friends come and spend an afternoon with us. To say Puddin was excited would be the understatement of the year. For some reason, she has a sudden fascination with sleepovers. I'm not even sure where she was first introduced to the term, since we have never used it and she has never slept anywhere in her whole life except her own bed, or in a hotel room with her entire family. I blame preschool. Ha!

Anyway, her sweet little friend L came to play and Puddin was thrilled!

Puddin had been watching the new Tinkerbell movie and had been telling me for days she wished she had a fairy house for her back yard like the little girl in the movie.

So after the kiddos played for a while I gathered them all together in the backyard for a mission. They had to collect sticks, nuts, berries, leaves, etc. but I did not tell them why.

Once we had the basket full we went back inside, fired up the glue gun, and I told them the plan... to build fairy houses!

Here are our renditions! I think they turned out fantastic and the kids had so much fun!!!

Monkey Do and his fairy house. Yes, he is wearing his cowboy farmer hat, again... it's a daily thing these days.

Monkey See and his fairy house... yes, he is wearing food on his face, again.
Also a daily thing around here. All I can say is, that boy loves a brownie!

Princess Puddin and her fairy house. Yes, she is wearing blue eye shadow and lip gloss.... another daily thing thanks to the makeup kit she was given by Nana for her birthday! (We do limit it to after school and only if mommy has no other plans for us to leave the house for the day) It's all about the limits!

Definitely a repeat activity in this house in the future!

It's Pretty Tweet Being 5!

The bad busy mommy blogger in me has been so busy these days it dawned on me that I never did a post about Puddin's 5th birthday party. YIKES! Ya'll know I'm all about a birthday party so please forgive my rudeness!!!

So, without further ado...
The inspiration was her recital. She danced to Rockin Robin and loved it! Birds have always been a favorite animal of hers since she was itty bitty so when she said she wanted a red birdie party it wasn't really a surprise.

The garlands were made from felt and beads and the inspiration came from a birdie I saw on Skip to My Lou( LOVE that site!)

Oh- And this year, I ordered the balloons for this party and the boy's airplane party on line and bought one of those little helium tanks at Target. It was soooo much cheaper to do it that way.

We decided to have her party here at the house but this year we opted for an inside party (instead of out in the backyard). We had so much fun! It was really cute to see all of her little friends coming to celebrate her special day! She invited friends from school, dance class, and long time (might as well be) friends too.

Warning- if you are not a fan of red, you might want to click away. We have a red dining room and the colors for the party were red and pink so be warned- there's a whole lotta red about to be seen!!

It was a very simple, easy party.

We had the food in the dining room, a game in the living room and the activity in the kitchen.

Food consisted of Bird Seed (aka- cheerios, sunflower seeds, mini chocolate chips and craisins), strawberries, chocolate birdies, cupcakes, and pink lemonade.
I used our white table cloth with some left over fabric across the top. I also had pictures along the table. The first one was taken minutes after she was born, then a 1st birthday picture, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The picture in the center was taken a few days before the party.

I also had her birthday book here. For each birthday (or other special gathering in their honor) my kids each get a book for their guests to sign. Puddin has quite a collection already!

The cake. She wanted a chocolate-chocolate cake with a red birdie on top. I used Chinese noodles as the nest, the bird is made from fondant and the pink stripes are for contrast. I also used feather boas around the cake plate to jazz it up a bit.

The cupcakes were chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with chocolate icing. I had a hard time deciding how to decorate these. I almost ordered some paper toppers but int he end these little glittery red birds won out. They are Christmas floral picks. I just snipped the pick part down, sprinkled some glittery sprinkles on the cupcakes and popped the pick in the cupcake. EASY! And, everyone got a bird in their goody bag too!

The silver bowl was for the capri-suns and the glass jar was for the pink lemonade. I didn't get another picture after I had that part finished.

Close up of the cake topper.
(made from pre-died rolled fondant... just like playing with play-doh!)
The game was a play on the pin the tail on the donkey. Instead we played pin the birdie in the nest. Fun and easy. (sorry- I didn't get a picture!)

The activity was to keep them all entertained when they started to arrive. Each child chose a bird house and an apron and could paint it any way they liked in the kitchen. By the time the party was over all of the bird houses were dry. These, along with their aprons, also served as part of their party favors.

They also had bird silly bands and a birdie sugar cookie in their bags.

We finished the party with birthday cake and gifts.

These were 2 of my favorite pictures I thought I'd share. Puddin as Rapunzel

opening her new crown

Everyone had a great time!
Daisy and all of the kids LOVED the cake (it came from a box and I doctored it up a bit!)

Plus, this was a super easy, inexpensive and fun party!
