Past orders

Here are a few custom orders I finished up over the past couple of weeks. All of these clients should have received their little treasure by now so I'm not ruining any surprises! Just to be safe, I'll leave off the names and details!

Pint sized Puddins! NEW!

Puddin is going to a birthday party today and wanted her

friend to have a Puddin Pop Kid.
So I started thinking about what kind of Puddin would be best.
And this is what I came up with...
A PINT sized Puddin!!

ADORABLE!
(she measures 15" from head to toe)

Puddin loves her and said, "Oh Mommy! It's perfect!"
Music to my ears!

And as a finishing touch we added this cute canvas bag to tuck her down inside.
After the trim on top, she's a perfect fit!

It was originally just a plain canvas bag but a little fabric and
embroidery later we have a gift ready to go.

Throw in a little Truth,

a sweet smile,

and lots of birthday wishes!

Something New!

The other day at a special baby shower for a special little sweetie, I was watching the mommy open gifts and I started thinking,

"I wish I had made a cute little bag for her goodies".

I guess I should have thought about it earlier.

Anyway, after the shower I decided to see what I could come up with.

So, I dug around in my scraps and found an old towel I had messed up when I was monogramming something.

It was perfect for what I wanted.

I decided to go with a "bucket bag".
But I wanted it to be frayed and tattered looking so I left the edges raw.

So, I made a "pattern"- I use that word loosely, very loosely!

I put a cute little monogram on it.

Voila!

I love it!

Tea Party Table for a Pwincess

Today I am linking up on Kimba's DIY day and to Before and Afters at Thrifty Decor Chick.
I don't usually do these but I thought it would be fun and maybe- I could win a great prize!!
So, here goes....

About a year ago Puddin was wanting a "tea party table" for when she was a pwincess.
We have a nice wood table for the kiddos but it is generic (not too girly or boy-ish... since we have both).
So, I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I started looking around the house. I found one of those cheap inexpensive, screw together tables that you can find at Walmart but, it was a little tall for a 3 year old tea party.

After I used my handsaw on the legs, it was the perfect height.

Then I decided to paint it... colorful. Puddin liked it but it didn't say "pwincess" to me.

So I went to my sewing room and started digging through my scraps. Puddin's nursery had custom bedding, thanks to Nanny, and I had lots of fabric left over. Thankfully, I had enough to make a custom skirt for her table.

I added ribbons to tie to the legs just to make sure the little Monkey brothers

couldn't pull it off when they stormed her room. So far, so good!

Now, all that was missing were seats. About the time I was making all of this I was also taking care of 2 newborns and 2 toddlers and a 3 year old and was seriously sleep deprived. So in the middle of the night I would think up home improvement projects I could do around here.

I have no idea why I was thinking of more things I could do?!?

Sleep deprivation makes you do crazy things.

That being said, I knew I wanted the seating to provide storage for the tea party set/food/etc., and I wanted it to be pretty, and to match, and to be cheap inexpensive.

Voila!

5 gallon Buckets!

I found these at Walmart for $5 bucks each. I got out my glue gun and staple gun and left over foam batting. I cut out enough foam to fit the lid, cut the fabric out to cover the foam and started attaching the fabric with the staple gun. I just stapled straight through the rim of the lid. Then I went around with a butter knife (I'm serious, ya'll)and bent the staples down so there was no way little Puddin was going to get hurt.

Storage solution!! Yay!!

The stool was looking cute but it still needed something.
A skirt! Back to my fabric stash and a wee bit later I had whipped up 2 skirts to go around the stools. I added some ribbon for finishing touches and finally- it was complete!

AND, another great thing about this is the skirts for the table and the stool are removable and can be washed, like when a little brother colors on the table with a crayon. Like now.

BTW- Puddin was snoozing during the "pwincess Tea Party table"- otherwise I'm sure she would have been all over these pictures!

Basic Training

So, we are gearing for for baby boot camp around here in the next few weeks... translation= getting Daisy to sleep through the night, potty training the Monkeys and preparing Monkey See for the loss of his beloved mi-mi. Not necessarily in that order.
I've had some really great suggestions on how to say bye-bye to the binky. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.
Boot camp #1 is to get Daisy to sleep through the night. Please, dear Lord, make that happen. I will give her a little credit though- she has managed to squeak out an extra hour every now and then so she will sometimes sleep for 4 hours before needing wanting a bottle. I really, really don't want to just let her cry but somethings gotta give. I keep praying she will just realize the doesn't need a bottle, or me, or daddy and just sleep. Our goal to have this completed... immediately!

Boot camp goal #2... Saying goodbye to Monkey See's mi-mi. If it's nearly as traumatic as it was last week, I might just loose my mind! Since the episode last week he has been very, very clingy to his dear mi-mi. Even sneaking upstairs for a little alone time with it. He has even been to brazen as to wander downstairs with it a couple of times in his mouth. When I take it away and remind him we only use a mi-mi at bedtime he falls apart in tears. (Just so you know, I don't give it back until bedtime. I'm pretty firm on that). So, I know what your thinking, I made all of this harder on myself. I should have just thrown it out when I had the chance, right? Yes, I guess I am a glutton for punishment. We hope to have this done by Christmas, Thanksgiving (or sooner, according to my hubby).

Boot camp goal #3...Potty training the Monkeys. Oh.my.word. If it's even remotely as hard as it was the last time I tried, I can guarantee I will loose my mind, or what's left of it! I don't think I even blogged about that horrendous day because, well, it was horrendous! I'm desperately trying to erase it from my mind. Needless to say, it will be the last step on baby boot camp '09 (and may actually not be accomplished until BBC '10. We'll see.

So I leave you with a little boot camp photo fun! Puddin and the Monkeys went through a little basic training the other day on how to sew... that's right, Momma needs a couple of sewing assistants around here and it's time they earn their keep! (yeah, right!)
Here they are, deep in concentration, working on their sewing cards. Surprisingly enough, Monkey Do was really, really good at this! If you know him you would think he wouldn't have the patience for it, but he was great at it! Actually, they all 3 did really well so there might be something to this "sewing assistant" thing after all!
